The Petit Saint Bernard at 2,188m is a historic Franco-Italian border crossing between the Aosta Valley and the Tarentaise, used since Roman times. The summit plateau features the ruins of a Roman hospice, a stone circle (Cromlech), and the celebrated alpine botanical garden of Chanoux.
