The Col de la Croix de Fer at 2,067m in Savoie is a demanding Tour de France climb connecting the Arc valley with the Romanche valley near Grenoble. The iron cross at the summit and the views across to the Écrins and Belledonne ranges make it one of the Alps' classic passes.
