The Nufenenpass at 2,478m is the second highest Asphalt pass in Switzerland, connecting the Urseren valley (Uri) with the upper Rhône valley (Valais). The road crosses a broad, open alpine plateau with views of the Gotthard massif and the Tessin headwaters, passing through dramatically barren high-altitude terrain.
