The Port de la Bonaigua at 2,072m in the Val d'Aran region of Catalonia is a major pass in the Spanish Pyrenees connecting the Aran valley with the Pallars Sobirà. The road crosses through open alpine terrain with excellent views, and the Val d'Aran below is linguistically and culturally unique — the only Occitan-speaking territory with official status.
